Caring for you treenware

The spoon on the left is a well-used mashed potato spoon, and the spoon on the right is a coffee spoon.  Both are made of black walnut (Juglans nigra).  Over extended use, the wood will dry out.  I generally re-oil spoons that see a lot of use monthly using mineral oil, which is non-toxic, colorless, flavorless, and doesn't go rancid.
